Press Release
For Immediate Release
August 19, 2008

It is with deep regret that I am announcing my resignation from the Jefferson County Board Of Education effective August 21, 2008.

I have made this decision after long conversation with my family. It is extremely difficult for me to step down; however, I must do what is in the best interest of my family.

I am honored to serve on the school board for almost 8 years and put my heart and soul into my school board work. I have been a dedicated and devoted member of the board. During my time on the board I have always prioritized our school district interests over my other obligations.

I would have liked to complete the term to which the people of Jefferson County have elected me and in which I have faithfully served since 1999. However, my primary focus at this time must be my wife Katherine and my children Allison and Cassandra. With this prioritization, I need to set aside other potential competing interests.

My departure from the school board does not change my commitment to our children and their education. My commitment to our teachers has not changed. My commitment to make Jefferson County School District the best in the nation has not changed. These values are a core part of who I am.

In conclusion, I would like to thank my fellow constituents who have supported me during my tenure as a public servant. I hope and pray for the continued success and well being of our school district and community which I have been so honored to serve.

Sincerely,
Vince A. Chowdhury,
Jefferson County Board of Education Treasurer
District 5 Representative
